Japan’s trade surplus widened 66.5% to JPY721.4 billion in June of 2018 from JPY433.2 billion a year earlier. Exports grew by 6.7% year-on-year to JPY7,052 billion, following a 8.1% rise in the previous month. Imports went up much softer at 2.5% to JPY 6,330 billion, after a 14% gain in May. Considering the first six months 2018, Japan’s trade deficit narrowed to JPY609.9 billion from JPY1.02 trillion in the same period of the preceding year.
