Hari Darmawan, founder of retailer Matahari Department Store (LPFF) passed away on Saturday (Mar 10) at 78 years old. Hari Darmawan started its business in 1960 and beginning to divesting LPPF shares to Lippo Group since 1996 as he needs money to serve health treatment for his wife Anna Yanti and his son Norman. The economic crisis and political panic situation in 1998, with mass unrest in some big cities, were also factors affecting retail business, including Matahari.
