The Indonesian central bank (Bank Indonesia/BI) reported that lending only grew by 8.8% year on year (y/y) in August 2017, a slow growth compared to 8.2% in the previous month. In July, high credit growth occurred only on building, electricity, services and agriculture sectors, while other sectors’ growth remained low. Deposit growth, meanwhile, decelerated from 10.3% (y/y) to 9.7% (y/y), decreasing especially in the forex deposit.
