On August 23, 2017, the Central Jakarta District Court held the first hearing of the trial on the tort lawsuit filed by the Government of Indonesia, as represented by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, against the Petroleum Authority of Thailand Exploration and Production Australasia Ashmore Cartier Pty Ltd (PTTEP Australasia), and two of its holding Company. The Government demands the Companies responsibility for the 2009 Montara oil spill. The first hearing was only held to examine the power of attorney from the parties. The legal counsel of the co-defendants was present but the representative of the defendant was absent. The trial was thus postponed.To subscribe please click here
