Indonesia’s external debt in May 2017 amounted to US$333.6 billion or grew 5.5% (yoy). Based on the group of borrowers, annual growth of public sector external debt increased, while private sector external debt declined. Public sector external debt in May 2017 stood at US$168.4 billion (50.5% of total external debt) or grew 11.8% (yoy), higher than 9.2% (yoy) in the previous month. Meanwhile, private sector external debt position in May 2017 stood at US$165.2 billion (49.5% of total external debt) or down 0.1% (yoy), smaller than 3.2% (yoy) decline in April 2017.
