National cement consumption dropped 26% to 3.73 million tons as of June 2017 (first half), down 1.3% from the same period last year, mainly due to long holiday, the holy month Ramadhan and Eid ul-Fitr celebration (10 days holiday). Less activities of infrastructure development project in eastern part of Indonesia such as Maluku and Papua also affected the drop in cement consumption in June. Cement consumption in Maluku and Papua dropped 46.7% to 65,830 tons, followed by Java (-28% to 2.06 million tons), Sulawesi (-28% to 312,300 tons), Sumatera (-26.5% to 796,000 tons), Kalimantan (-20% to 252,000 tons), Nusa Tenggara (-13.6% to 239,500 tons).
