The Government targets to develop 25 special economic zones (KEK) by gradually until 2019 and expects this project could attracts investment of Rp669 trillion and employ over 625,583 workers. Per June, 11 KEKs have been developed with the realized investment of Rp221 trillion. Palembang GMA Refinery Consortium invests Rp149 trillion in KEKs. While ProCone GmbH invests Rp8 trillion, Sirkuit MotoGP Rp6 trillion, and Alternatif Protein Indonesia Rp5.7 trillion. KEK Tanjung Api-api attracts Rp161.7 trillion investment, followed by KEK Pariwisata Mandalika (NTB) Rp16.2 trillion, KEK Tanjung Kelayang (Bangka Belitung) Rp13.8 trillion, KEK Sei Mangkei (North Sumatera) Rp10.8 trillion, KEK Tanjung Lesung (Banten) Rp8.2 trillion, KEK MBTK (East Kalimantan) Rp8 trillion, and KEK Bitung (North Sulawesi) Rp2 trillion. The rest KEKs with investment commitment of less than Rp1 trillion are KEK Sorong (West Barat) Rp25 billion, KEK Palu (Central Sulawesi) Rp328 billion, and KEK Arun Lhokseumawe (Aceh) Rp100 billion.
