Two listed beer producers, Multi Bintang (MLBI) and Delta Djakarta (DLTA) reported a higher profit growth in the first quarter (Q1) of 2017. MLBI’s profit grew by 23.7% to Rp302 billion while DLTA’s jumped 35% to Rp77 billion. MLBI, market leader, reported a 11.4% rise in sales, to Rp899 billion. While DLTA reported a flat sales (Rp432 billion). DLTA however benefited from paying lower excise duty and sales tax, which declined 8% to Rp214 billion. Big issue on DLTA is that new leaders of Jakarta provincial administration will sell the city’s shares in DLTA.
