The gubernatorial race is over, but that doesn’t mean the bickering has ended. Indeed, Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama is now on a very public spat with Governor-elect Anies Baswedan. At the center of it all is Jakarta’s budget. Ahok, who remains in office until October, has full authority over what the budget shall contain. Anies, who is coming into office in October, understandably wants to make sure that once he’s in office, the budget that Ahok has left him with, will have space for his programs.
