The incumbent Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama started his journey in the Jakarta gubernatorial by visiting the construction site of the Mass Rapid Transportation (MRT) and the (Greater) Jakarta Light Rail (LRT) projects together with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo back on Sep. 30, 2016, just nine days after he and his running mate Vice Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat officially registered themselves to the local election commission (KPUD). Yesterday (Feb. 23), both Governor Ahok and President Jokowi visited the Semanggi Overpass construction project and the Jakarta MRT project site.
