The three largest political parties in the resource-rich province of West Sulawesi (home to Budong-Budong oil & gas block) will battle each other in the province’s gubernatorial election next year. The Democratic Party, the largest political party in the province, has nominated Suhardi Duka and his running mate Kalma Matta. The Golkar Party, the second largest political party in the province, has finally endorsed Hasanuddin Mas’ud and his running mate Syibli Sahabuddin. The third largest political party Gerindra, meanwhile, decided to back Ali Baal Masdar and his running mate Enny Anggraeny Anwar, who is the wife of the current Governor of West Sulawesi Anwar Adnan Saleh.
