Leadership Change at BIN: Implications?

As predicted, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo decided to nominate Police Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan, the deputy chief of the National Police, as the new chief of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) to replace Sutiyoso. The President had asked the House of Representatives (DPR) to consider Budi Gunawan’s nomination as per Article 36 Paragraph 1 of the State Intelligence Law No. 17/2011. And since it’s just a consideration, the President could still move ahead and take Budi Gunawan’s oath even if the DPR disagrees. To subscribe please click here
