The Government of Indonesia has been trying to secure the country’s fair share of taxes from companies providing over-the-top (OTT) platforms. And the Government seems keen to put on a more aggressive stance today, with Alphabet Inc’s (GOOGL.O) Google as its target. Google was incorporated in Indonesia with the establishment of PT Google Indonesia in 2011, but since then the Company has maintained itself as a representative office. The revenue it makes is the fee it earns from directing marketing/advertising business to Google’s Asia-Pacific entity based in Singapore.
