HSBC Indonesia reported 292.4% growth in profit after tax for first half of 2016 and ICBC posted 41.% growth. HSBC has better growth from operations while ICBC enjoyed higher growth on interest income. Both reported lower lending growth for the period with ICBC making a 46% increase in its provision for loans as the bank’s bad loans increased 35.4% to Rp2.73 trillion. Otherwise, HSBC’s loan provision declined 12.78%. However HSBC’s bad loans jumped 73.7% to Rp4.29 trillion.
