The Democratic Party and the Golkar Party, the two largest political parties in the resource-rich province of West Sulawesi (home to Budong-Budong oil & gas block) will run against each other in the province’s 2017 gubernatorial election. The Democratic Party has officially nominated Suhardi Duka and his running mate Kalma Katta as governor and vice governor candidates respectively.
