The composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) fell 0.5% to close at 5,217 Thursday (July 21) as domestic investors opted to lock in profits after recent significant gain. Trading value reached Rp7.2 trillion but foreign investors kept booking net buy of Rp495 billion yesterday, bringing year-to-date net buy to Rp21.88 trillion. Investors mostly sold blue chip stocks on Thursday such as Bank Rakyat Indonesia (-3.2%), Telkom (-1.7%), Bank Mandiri (-2.9%), Astra International (-1%), and Kalbe Farma (-2.8%). While the gainers were Summarecon Agung (+16.4%), Bank Sinarmas (+20%), Japfa Comfeed (+11.8%), and Indah Kiat (+8.3%).
