Teman Ahok, the group of supporters of the Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, have collected over a million copies of identity cards (ID), well beyond the amount required to be able to endorse the incumbent as an independent candidate in next year’s gubernatorial election. That said, Ahok and (rather surprisingly) Teman Ahok have kept opened the possibility of accepting the backing of a coalition of political parties—such as Hanura, Nasdem, and Golkar—instead of insisting on walking the independent path.
