The Ministry of Finance expects Indonesia’s budget deficit to expand to 2.23% of GDP this year, from 1.9% set on the revised 2015 state budget, due to tax shortfall of Rp122.2 trillion. The budget deficit is expected to reach Rp260 trillion for 2015, compared to Rp222.5 trillion deficit set on the revised budget. This expectation is based on the worst case scenario that the tax collection only reaches Rp1,367 trillion this year, below the target of Rp1,489.2 trillion set on the revised budget.
