The central bank, Bank Indonesia (BI), revealed on Thursday (April 8) that transactions using foreign currencies will be banned, starting July 1, 2015. BI requires the use of rupiah on non cash transaction in all regions of the country. The policy is set in motion with Bank Indonesia Regulation (PBI) No 17/3/PBI regarding the Usage of Rupiah on transactions across the country.
