A couple of days ago, news broke that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s administration was considering the plan to buy PT Minarak Lapindo’s assets. The Minister of Public Works Basuki Hadimuljono said that in so doing the financially troubled Minarak Lapindo would be able to compensate the victims of the Lapindo Mudflow disaster. But yesterday (Dec. 10), Jusuf Kalla denied that such a plan exists, arguing that the government hadn’t the money to buy Lapindo’s assets. What on earth is happening?
