Indonesia is the meeting point of diverse cultures. It’s therefore very likely that we’d stumble upon traditional practices shared by different cultural celebrations. In every Chinese New Year, it is customary of any married Chinese-Indonesian couple to give away pocket money in a red envelope known as Hongbao. Similar custom can also be found in Eid celebration, where adult would give to the young a small sum of money as gift known as Eidiyah.
