For many Indonesians, the district of Karawang used to be referred to as the national granary. Karawang was capable of producing over 1 million ton of unmilled rice per year with its 94,000 hectares of rice fields. But things has changed with the Karawang rice fields slowly disappearing and being replaced with buildings.
