The Federation of Independent Workers Union (GSBI) is one of the grass root workers unions established in the 1980s by a number of labor activists and non-governmental organization activists. GSBI is known as the “rival” of the Confederation of the All-Indonesian Workers Union (KSPSI), the only workers union that was “recognized” by the government during President Soeharto’s New Order years.
